Welcome to the home of Rhondda Athletics
Rhondda Athletic Club was formed in 1953. It’s founder members were Bill Kingsbury, Idris Evans and Tom Barnett. All were ex Army Physical Training Instructors who formed Rhondda AC on leaving the army and returning home to the Rhondda. The club currently has over 100 members, aged from 8 to 80+. Since it’s formation, Rhondda AC has produced hundreds of County, Welsh, British and even World Champions. Two of our current members are Rhys Jones who is a double Paralympian and Commonwealth Games bronze medalist in the T37 100 metres, and Carys Parry who has represented Wales at 3 Commonwealth Games, getting the silver medal in the women’s hammer in Delhi 2010. Our club caters for all track and field, cross country and road running events. In the summer months we train in King George’s Track, Clydach Vale. Our winter training is held at Tonypandy Community College gym. Our coaches are all volunteers and are fully qualified with British and UK Athletics.
